The SpatialAge Vision

The goal of SpatialAge is to provide practical solutions to real business problems. Our core competence is a result of developing solutions through the practical application of technology. We are committed to finding the best way to solve our clients' business problems.

Technology

  • We utilize open, non-proprietary, mainstream IT platforms.
  • Our SpatialAge Developer’s Kit (SDK) ™ maximizes reuse and makes it easy for developers to locate and use existing functional code.
  • We provide next-generation platforms and products that are implemented in such a way that users are not disrupted during deployment.

Usability

  • We employ user-centric design through our innovative Knowledge Mapping methodology.
  • We capture the business logic of experts and expose it through our user interface.
  • We produce objects that can be used to construct new applications or extend existing applications.

Practical Applications

  • A full scope data toolkit, which allows clients to build their spatial database, while improving data quality and data intelligence;
  • Point solutions to address problems and opportunities without implementing dead-end platforms;
  • Tools to maintain database integrity and "build-in" continuous data improvement throughout the process.

SpatialAge Solutions Leads the Way

We are committed to maintaining our leadership role in the geospatial industry.

As part of our continuing efforts to stay on top of technological advances, Byers remains an active leader in industry organizations such as the Geospatial Information and Technology Association (GITA). We also support initiatives such as OpenGIS®, which fosters open industry standards to provide interoperability among software components. These standards facilitate integration and encourage competition among providers, both of which benefit the client by allowing choice among "best-of-breed" applications without vendor “lock-in.” Your “GIS” becomes your geospatial database, which then supports the best applications, regardless of the software provider.

The Evolution of SpatialAge

Geospatial technology has evolved rapidly during the past 30 years, with the last few years seeing important industry milestones. For the first time, mainstream technology is effectively bridging the gap between applications and data. Compelling examples include:

  • coordinate data storage in commercial relational databases
  • strong OpenGIS progress on interoperability
  • wireless connectivity
  • Global Positioning System (GPS) integration
  • broad marketplace acceptance for the web browser graphic user interface

Since 1983, we have been continuously developing and refining our geospatial software technology. From the beginning, we employed our own core graphics engine to allow users to view maps and manipulate features.

We were among the first to develop custom and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software that operates on inexpensive personal computers. This software provided much of the functionality of more expensive systems, which were typically used for geospatial applications.

Since its formal introduction in March 1989, Byers’ products have gained market acceptance. The market has embraced our EWO and Map Viewer products because they increase productivity and reduce costs, thereby: helping clients to remain competitive and provide the highest standard in customer service.

As the marketplace grows and changes, and new technologies emerge and are implemented, the focus is shifting from GIS and CAD platforms to specialized applications and data sets, whether it is tabular or geospatial data. As “CAD” is becoming increasingly irrelevant, we purposely designed an evolution path to assist our clients in moving from CAD to full geospatial capabilities.
